Die Reihe beim Georg Olms Verlag (Nomos Verlagsgruppe) widmet sich dem Zusammenspiel von Islam und Medizinethik in ihrer Wechselwirkung mit den jeweils zeit- und ortsgebundenen gesellschaftlichen Gegebenheiten sowohl in historischer als auch in gegenwartsbezogener Perspektive. Dabei nimmt sie insbesondere normativ wirkende soziale, religiöse und rechtliche Rahmenbedingungen in den Blick. Im Fokus der konzeptionell multidisziplinär angelegten Veröffentlichungen stehen die thematisch jeweils vielschichtigen Debatten ebenso wie soziale Praktiken und die jeweiligen Akteur:innen.
Die Reihe bietet damit ein Forum für herausragende und innovative Forschungsarbeiten aus der Islamischen Theologie, der Islamwissenschaft sowie weiteren geistes- und sozialwissenschaftlichen Disziplinen, die sich mit Themen an der Schnittstelle von Islam, Medizin und/oder Medizinethik befassen. Sie werden in Form von Monographien und Sammelbänden veröffentlicht.

Islam and Medical Ethics (IME)

The series at Georg Olms publishing house (Nomos group) addresses the relationship between Islam and medical ethics in their interaction with the respective social conditions of the time and place, both from a historical and contemporary perspective. It focuses in particular on the normative social, religious and legal framework. The conceptually multidisciplinary publications concentrate on the thematically complex debates as well as social practices and the respective actors.
The series thereby offers a forum for outstanding and innovative research work from Islamic theology, Islamic studies and other humanities and social science disciplines that deal with topics at the intersection of Islam, medicine and/or medical ethics. They are published in the form of monographs and anthologies.
